A name sounds old when most of the people who have it are old. These 50 names have the highest average age of any name with at least 25,000 living people in the US. The typical Betty is 76, and even the 50th name on the list, Marcia, averages 68.

Most of them peaked between 1920 and 1953, then all but disappeared from birth certificates. With few young people to balance them out, the people who still carry these names are mostly in their seventies and eighties.
